Was 15th row center for this one. A partially full and very mellow Palace. I think this was the best incarnation of The Other Ones. The proverbial "core four" was still intact. Jimmy Herring was tearing things up. And Susan Tedeschi was being, well she was being her usual awesome self. I saw a ton of Sugaree's between 1976 and 1995 [they didn't play it at my one 1974 show], and this was up there with the best. A rollicking beer hall blues stomper that she took to crazy rowdy places. Everything else simply rocked. And as a huge fan of all things Hunter/Garcia, the Hunter set instead of a traditional break was sweet. So great set list.... great playing.... great vocals.... and a Hunter mini-show. As close to 5 stars as any post Jerry show is going to get. Though the 11/14/17 Dead & Co show at MSG sounded pretty damn good!!

I enjoyed the addition of Jimmy Herring and Susan Tedeschi. Jimmy stayed with them for 'The Dead' tour 2003 as well but this was the last show of the fall '02 tour to feature Susan Tedeschi on vocals. Also, IMO, Rob Baracco's vocals are always a bonus, check out the Beatles cover early on. Bobby singing Lazy Lightning was a standout as well as Susan taking the lead on Sugaree. I know it's not for everyone but Jimmy's tone is pretty amazing. As i remember, this show was only about 3/4 full and compared to Chicago two nights later, a pretty mellow scene. Let's not forget the unique format of this tour: Set I -> extended set break featuring about an hour long set by Robert Hunter -> Set II. Thanks for posting!
